How to get a man to do what you want:

I'll be the first to admit, it's been a hard month. One month ago today my husband got on that nasty plane to go back to that nasty sandland and I got hit with the nasty Post R&R Funk! I really didn't expect it to hit me as hard as it did..ok..I didn't expect it at all. But boy oh boy did I get it. Slowly I'm starting to feel like myself again, within the past week I'm starting to feel like normal again. I was really wondering what my deal was there for awhile, I thought 3 deployments had finally pushed me over the edge lol.
It was a really rough month. I was super lonely, (and I'm not one to get lonely very often) I was sad, I was grumpy, my eating was horrid, ect ect.
I do have to say though, I was spoiled ROTTEN on R&R and that didn't help me much. haha My husband, bless his heart, is just about fabulous. I honestly don't know if any other guy could treat me as good as he does. I got to sleep in, I got naps, I got pampered, I got cooked for. My husband is of the mindset that when he comes home its MY break. He told me before he came home that he didn't want to be pampered. He told me that he gets to sleep in whenever he has a day off *which isnt often but, more often than when I have a day of, ha* he gets to sleep all night and besides work he can do whatever he wants and he's just happy to be home with us and wants me to relax because I deserve a break. (yes, his words...i KNOOOWWWWW. Isn't he fabulous) So, I got royally spoiled and it did not help out in the Post R&R Funk area.
Now before wives start hittin me with tomatoes for being all braggy braggy..We weren't always like this! We've gone through some rough patches in the last 6 years. There were some times where I didn't know if we'd make it. In that dark spot, one man changed our marriage.......Mr. Mark Gungor. If you haven't seen/heard of him, google, youtube, whatever you have to do to find him! He is an AMAZING teacher and he knows his stuff. Even if you aren't into the whole preacher/religious stuff, thats okay, it's not preaching..just youtube him and you'll see what I mean. He's hilarious, enjoyable to watch and just plain fabulous!
We were first introduced to him when we went on a marriage retreat through the Army, we figured 'what could it hurt'..we might actually learn something, free hotel for the weekend, time away from the kids..what's to lose?
They played his DVD series and it was the most fun, most enlightening, most wonderful time. And it literally changed my marriage.
I learned about my husband and the way he thought, how his mind worked and he learned about me and how my mind worked and everything he said was TRUE! My husband and I have applied it and we are now happier than we've ever been.
Heres a few Mark Gungor Gems:

Starting at about Minute 5 is something I think most men do..not..UNDERSTAND..when it comes to women. (The whole video is awesome too) It's one of my favorite Mark Gungor pieces.

His book "Laugh your way to a better marriage" is amazing! We've read it at least twice together. I highly suggest you get his book or DVD's bc you really have nothing to lose.

So if you're on Facebook, check his pg out, he has awesome blogs, insights and his radio show on, everyday.

Who doesn't love some new recipes?!

So, Because the lovely Kids Club worker came to work sick and got my kids sick at the gym, who in turn, have shared with me I now will be spending the day resting, luckily I don't have it near as bad as they did, (as much as one can caring for 2 kids) and I also have the opportunity to write this blog I've been meaning to for a few days..........
New recipes! Who doesn't love some new recipes?!

First up: Mozzarella stuffed meatballs
This is one of my favorite new recipes, it's a bit time consuming, but I assemble them while the kids are having quiet time then just cook them up around dinner time. This recipe makes enough for 3-4 meals so I divide them in half and freeze half. Just last night actually I unfroze the freezer portion I had and we ate them on hoagie buns.

2lb gr beef *I used 1lb gr turkey, 1lb gr beef and they were great*
2 c seasoned bread crumbs
1 c milk
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
2 tsp pepper
1 block (8oz) Mozarella cheese
1/3 c flour
1/4 c oil
3 jars pizza sauce

Combine first 6 ingredients just until mixed and shape into meatballs. Cut Moz. chese into cubes and put one into the center of each meatball, covering the cheese completely with meat. Roll lightly in flour. Cook meatballs in oil over med. heat until browned (3-4 mins each side) and then drain. Add pizza sauce and bring to a boil. Turn down heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until meatballs are cooked through.
I've had these with fries and a veggie, rice, on hoagie buns, spaghetti, or just as appetizers. You can eat these in so many ways they never get boring.

For my next recipe I will refer to my friend: Pioneer Woman and her Chicken Spaghetti. This is soooooooooooo good! I seriously ate this for 3 meals in a row *which is NOT something I can do often, eat the same thing* and I honestly didn't get tired of it..it was SOOO good!

and now..I can't end without some dessert.. once again, my girl, Pioneer Woman
Every year growing up, back in Ks, We'd go to the Kansas State Fair..and every year I couldn't wait to get an apple dumpling..oh..em..gee. Well, This recipe is FABULOUS! Looks weird,yes..but..oh my gosh, they are INCREDIBLE! I haven't made them since BD left bc honestly, I'd eat the whole pan but I am just WAITING for a reason to make some bc they are AWESOME and so easy and..omg. I'm drooling. You can trust me on this one, I wouldn't lie about Apple Dumplings...with a nice scoop of vanilla Icecream..heaven!

Boob....er..I mean..BRA!

DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ARE A BOOB-A-PHOBE...DO NOT PROCEDE ANY FURTHER

Today I decided to go on an adventure with my 3yr old and my 2 yr old.
"The Great Bra Shopping Adventure" normally I would wait until they were in daycare but it was just one of those things that I -had- to do today, not because there was a real dire need to, but because once I decide I need to do something I have to do it right -then- And sometimes being a 'single mom' as I am at the moment, ya can't wait for the perfect time, ya just gotta do it. So I did. Off we went. Me, in my infinate wisdom, thinking it couldn't be -that- bad. Since I've lost 30lbs I've also lost some in a 'certain' area, Which isn't a big deal for me. I have enough to share...momma always said to share.
So there we are in Target, looking at the bras and it starts with my 3yr old poking each 'cup' of -each- bra, but I could live with that. Pick your battles. I made my selections and then I hear "mom! LOOK at this BOOB! its HUGE!!" Let me just back up and say that my beautiful daughter is a bit confused when it comes to the terms "bra" and "boob" Every bra is a "boob" So I scurry her along, still in control. We get to the dressing rooms and the lady is giving me my number and miss thang pops up and goes "mom...are you gonna dress up in those beautiful boobs?..my moms gonna put on those boobs!" (BLUSH) The lil 19 year old worker there thought it was insanely funny...of course. soooo we laugh and get in the dressing room while I tell her to not make comments and I'm doin my thang and my daughter (she just can't keep her MOUTH shut!) goes, in her very loud 3yr old voice "ohhh momma, I really like yours boobs" (she meant she liked the bra I was trying on, but...you can imagine what everyone else thought) I do that harsh "SHH!!" whisper thing, every mom out there is nodding their head now, aren't you, bc you've done it too! lol
and I hear it........a man...(Target doesn't seperate their dressing rooms)...choking back a laugh or perhaps just thinking 'crap, wheres my video camera when I need it... yyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
oh..but it doesn't stop.. "Momma..are you going to buy those boobs? Daddy will really love yours new boobs momma, Can I touch yours new boobs momma? please momma..just let me poke it, lemme touch it, lemme touch it" (at this point shes jumping up and down)
I wanted....to..VOMIT! lol Im standing there staring at this child just blinking and I'm doing that thing where your nose flares and you make a quiet "SHH" face..apparently 3 year olds don't understand that. I choke out "be..quiet..please" trying not to sound like the psycho embarassed mother bc obviously those dressing rooms are not sound proof.
I was just praying we made it out of there before that man did or he left before us -anything- to keep us from walking out at the same time.

Apparently the Lord was watching out for me, bc I made it out of there before and/or after the mysterious man and we made a quick exit for the checkout...............

Never...........again......

oh the tale of the holes in the wall

I hate hanging pictures/shelves ect..basically anything that you'd attach to a wall, I suck at. I'm tellin ya, I think my head is on crooked because I nail in my nail, attach said wall hanging, stand back and..son of a biscut eater, its crooked, Then I make another hole. cycle continues until I strike gold. My husband will be having some words with me when we go to move and we have to take down all our pictures and such bc he will find numerous 'try and fail' holes that he has to fill in. Perhaps we'll still be in that post deployment honeymoon stage and he'll just chuckle and say "you're the cutest hon" .......ok..ya..probably not. (Darling, if you are reading this: I love you) Perhaps I could tell him we have wall bugs ? But anywho, I have found the product to save my marriage. *no, its not a level..well, it kinda is, but not really* I was out looking for a frame the other day bc one of my readers, friends and an all around fabulous gal, Miss Kristen, saw this picture:
and offered to snaz it up for me. So the brand of frame I bought was called "Burnes Level Line"
Pay close attention now..scoot your chair closer and get that lil noggin of yours right near the screen. This:
is not only the bracket that the frame hangs on, it also has a little tiny level on it. You just nail 1 nail *provided* into one side of the bracket, level the bracket, and you can tell its level by the lil bubble thingie, then nail in your other nail..bingo bango bongo, this is what you have:
DISCLAIMER: I realize the frame looks crooked but I swear to you, its straight. I was just crooked taking the pic :-)

TADA!!

Thankful.............

This article was posted on Facebook by my cousin Stacee...kinda long, but worth the read!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-foreman/this-is-what-luck-smells-_b_805929.html

This exact thing has been on my heart this new year. How lucky/blessed, whatever you want to call it, we are...How lucky/blessed I am. With everything going on in my life right now it'd be easy to complain but this year one of my goals is to not forget just how good I have it. I am a "the glass is 1/2 empty" kind of person and I don't want to be anymore.
I've been reading the books Last Light and am currently on Night Light by Terri Blackstock, also very good reads, its a 3 book series, and it's also brought to my attention how well I have it, I have electricity, water, food, clothes, whereas so many people, even today, don't have that.

My life may not be perfect but nobody's is. I have 2 beautiful funny children who are healthy, I have a warm house, food, clothes, money to buy what I need/want, a good car *yes, not as fancy or big as I'd like, but it works great and meets my needs right now*, I have loving family, loving friends *granted, some may be far away but that doesn't mean our friendship suffers* I have an amazing husband who, from thousands of miles away, can still make me feel like the most loved, cared for woman ever and from thousands of miles away does whatever he can to make my life easier.
Yes, I am raising to kids on my own doing every..little..thing..and most days I am so exausted and worn out that I can barely see straight and I'm so tired of doing it all that its not even -funny- but I have my babies and I couldn't live without them and without them my life wouldn't be near as funny as it is now and I sure wouldn't be as busy as I am now which in turn helps the days to go by fast and soon my husband will be home and we'll be a family. Yes, my husband is gone and I hate it, but I have a great marriage and I'd rather have a great marriage with a husband that may not be here right now than a bad marriage with my husband here all the time *Dearest Army Gods that be, that does not mean that you need to send my husband away more, I am just tryin to look at the positives :-)*

I challenge you this year to be thankful, to realize how well you have it, to look at your blessings instead of complaining

I..am..THANKFUL!

some R&R pics

They found their daddy

One of my favorites

Happy Birthday Monkey!!

Merry Christmas!!

I can't express enough how amazing our R&R was. I couldn't have asked for better. The girls were glued to their daddy. I had my husband, things were like normal. Honestly I forgot that he had to leave again there for awhile. We had a fantastic Christmas. My husband was surprised with his DREAM gift. a Taurus .38 Special. Given to him by yours truely! (I won Wife of the Year award for that one) We got to share a few wonderful days with my parents. Enjoyed a date day and date night. Shopped until we dropped. BD caught a stomach bug and sprined his back *the same day* It was a very packed fun filled time. We're into the new year now and I'm ready to knock out the last part of this journey and be DONE!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
